The Body Shop Drops Of Youth – Bouncy Sleeping Mask

Upon first look, I had to giggle at the name of this product. Bouncy sleeping mask? Sounds like something a kid would don at a slumber party in the hopes of obtaining super powers. The claims on the box seemed pretty magical too: one overnight use promises “bouncier, smoother, refreshed” skin. I wasn’t sure what exactly “bouncier” skin was, but I was sure it was something I wanted to have!

The Body Shop is an eternal favorite with me. Not only have their products ALWAYS been cruelty-free, their entire line is vegetarian. That is a big deal and highly commendable in my book. Note that they are owned by a non-cruelty-free parent company, but they continue to be cruelty free and are Leaping Bunny certified. In addition, this particular mask (and a large percentage of their products in general) happens to 100% vegan, so I was already in love!

The large, heavy jar contains a white, sticky, lightly fragranced mask. It handles much like a thick cold cream, which means it goes on easily without a lot of spillage. (This is good news for those of us with a case of the clumsies.) If you prefer to keep your hands clean, the mask also comes packaged with a tiny little plastic spoon for easy application.

Upon applying the mask, I noticed an instant, and quite pleasant, tingling all over my face. It almost felt like that mask was waking up my skin and buzzing it back to life. Buzz buzz buzz!!! It lasted for about five or ten minutes. (Which is good, because I wouldn’t have been able to sleep with that feeling of face-electricity, and this is intended as an overnight mask.)

The mask took an hour and a half to dry up and be pillow-ready, so I recommend applying it early in the evening and allowing it ample time to set. Otherwise, it will smear all over your pillowcase and may stain your sheets. Also, a little goes a looooong way here, so take it easy. The amount I used, shown in the picture of me goofing off, was definitely excessive! The more product you use, the longer you will be waiting for it to dry. That’s nice though, because it means the jar will last for quite some time.

So what were the results of this overnight wonder-mask? Honestly, it delivered everything it promised, and then some. After just one overnight application, my skin was visibly more supple and even-toned and noticeably tighter and softer to the touch. They weren’t kidding when they said your skin would be “bouncier.” If you have very oily, acne-prone skin, you may find this mask too hydrating for your tastes (though instead, allow me to highly recommend The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Oil line.) My face felt soft and pampered, and I suspect that with continued use, my fine lines would melt away as well. Above all, I loved waking up to a fresh face of skin that felt truly revitalized and energized. It left me feeling ready to greet a brand new day.

just a thought, but I think this product can be used with a paper masque put on top so it doesn’t make a mess. They sell them on places like bangood.com (I’m not affiliated with that company btw, but I’ve seen them on there).
