Hemp Seed Oil in Skincare
As I get older, I notice my skin requires more help in the moisturizing department. Back in my teens, I rarely remembered to use lotion, in my twenties I used it purely for scent and after shaving my legs. Now in my thirties, it’s become a requirement after the shower. Elbows and feet that never had dry spots before now need daily maintenance to prevent itchy, scaly skin. C’est la vie! I’ve also noticed I can’t use any old lotion in these dry areas, I need products that work specifically for dry to very dry skin…and for that I’ve been happy with using The Body Shop Hemp Bodycare Collection. Formulated to provide deep hydration to parched, dry skin, this intensive moisture line turns uncomfortable skin into soft, supple skin once again.
Community fair trade hemp seed oil is the common ingredient in the entire line, and for good reason. Hemp has many uses but the oil can greatly benefit skin in need of some extra care. It is known as a huge source of essential fatty acids, vitamins A, E, B-12. Deeply nourishing, hemp seed oil is non-comedogenic, keeps the natural oils in your skin from thickening into pore-clogging sebum, and lubricates the skin for a silky, soft feel.
The Hemp soap on a rope is a non-drying cleanser that works great for dry, sensitive skin. Because it is a earthy type scent it works as a unisex cleanser and has a rope ring to hang dry in the shower instead of sitting in a festering soap dish in your tub. Because of the large size of the soap, it works best being rubbed into a shower poof to create moisturizing suds to cleanse the body.
After getting out of the shower, using a good body butter is the best way to treat dry skin. While your skin is still a bit moist, get a small scoop of The Body Shop Hemp Body Butter which is a thick cream and go to town on legs, elbows and anywhere else that requires deep moisturization. Don’t be afraid to go back for more for any missed areas! The tub is large and will give you full body coverage with very little going a long way and will give you soft skin for a full 24-hours or until your next shower.
I am known to give myself a full pedicure every week or so and no matter how much filing I do, a good foot creme will keep heels soft and smooth. The Body Shop Hemp Foot Protector is the perfect solution for dry tootsies and works best with a thick pair of socks afterwards. I massage just a little bit into the toes, nails and the heel of my foot and throw on some socks to lock in that moisture. By the time I go to bed my feet feel soft and smooth! I can even use this on my husband (because of it’s unisex scent) and work it into his tired feet at the end of the day for a little treat. A foot massage with the creme is quite the treat and he never turns it down!
I have a hard time remembering to use lotion on my hands, and for that I end up with dry cuticles that sometimes peel and snag. Ouch! I don’t like a greasy palm so I tend to work The Body Shop Hemp Intensive Hand Butter into the tops of my hands only leaving my hands to grip things with easy while nails and cuticles get deeply moisturized. Another great item to have when giving yourself a manicure at home. The secure top tub can easily be thrown into a weekend bag unlike a pump-top lotion that can create a disaster once you open the bag. I know this tub is going to last me close to forever because such a little amount is needed for a quick transformation into healthy hands and nails.
The Body Shop Hemp Lip Conditioner was the first item my husband swiped from this stash. We both love a creamy feeling lip balm and this works perfectly for a non-shiny lip protector. Formulated to be used in even extreme environments (think cold, snowy mountains), lips feel soft and smooth. There is no true flavor to this balm, but a slight hint of the hemp scent as you apply. We love that this is in stick form and not in a pot (ha ha) because I have longer nails and the feeling of product underneath my nails makes me shudder.
Last but certainly not least, The Body Shop Hemp Face Protector works great for touching up those random dry spots we get on our face from time to time. The skin around my mouth gets extra dry and chapped so I use just a tiny bit around my mouth as a dry skin treatment. I have combination skin so I don’t use it everywhere, but know that if any other areas on my face get too dry and uncomfortable this will be something I can rely on for relief.
The Body Shop has been one of my go-to locations for beauty products since my teens because their products always produce fabulous results and have always been accessible to me at the local mall. But for those who aren’t near a Body Shop location you can always visit their website to stock up on your skincare and beauty needs! To find out more about The Body Shop you can visit them on Facebook or Twitter.

Great review. We really like the hemp collection too. Sometimes you can find the smaller size of the body butter in the store, have you seen it? It’s great for carrying around in your bag & no more dry hands 🙂
