This is so cool you guys. I recently went to The Broot, a hair treatment bar in Los Angeles. They make and apply custom hair treatments using fresh, raw, organic ingredients like avocado, banana and hair-loving oils like coconut and jojoba. I love this idea and I already want to go back!
Here’s how it works:
- You pick the fresh ingredients you want in your hair smoothie ($35 for the treatment). I chose a vegan blend of avocado (for hair growth), banana (to kill frizz and add shine), coconut oil, jojoba oil and olive oil (to strengthen and moisturize). They also have egg, honey and mayonnaise.
- They mix it up for you in a blender while you wait. Then they rinse your hair, apply the mask and give you a nice little head massage (you can do 5-15 minutes for an extra fee).
- You sit under the hair dryer for a bit, and then they shampoo and condition with Macadamia hair products.
- When you’re done, they give you a basic braid (with wet hair) or you can pay $25 extra for a blow out. You can even pay a little extra to get fancy braid styles – with or without a hair treatment.
I thought the concept and the salon itself was adorable. My hair smelled delicious while I was sitting under the heater and I had to resist the urge to chew on it! After the treatment, I had a blow out and my hair looked fab. It felt thicker and kind of heavy from the increased moisture. I noticed the red color in my hair really popped – even a couple days later. I guess my hair needed that!
The ladies at the salon told me a lot of women come in for treatments after yoga class. It sounds like a fun idea for a pampering girl day alone or with your friends. I also think it would be a really nice pre-bridal event. I’d rather do that than go get wasted in Vegas, but I’m not 21 anymore…
What do you think – would you try this service out for $35?
