Veganlicious Beauty: Good-For-You Goodies from Mineral Fusion
It’s always a good day when you get a box of goodies (to review!) from one of your favorite cruelty free, 100% vegetarian, mostly vegan companies – Mineral Fusion! (All products discussed here are vegan. When shopping on their website, each product will be listed as “100% vegan” on the product page if it is. There’s no searching through long lists, which we all appreciate.)
If you’re looking for good-for-your-skin vegan cosmeceuticals, you’ve found them. Mineral Fusion has a well-deserved reputation for making everything, body care, and more that are as healthy for you as they are effective.
In Mineral Fusion’s line of primers, there are four: Color Correcting, Hydrating, Illuminating, and Mattifying. All are intended for use alone or under makeup; this base coat creates an even canvas for makeup fun. Each all also includes Mineral Fusion’s own anti-aging formulas.
The Mattifying Primer is intended for oily skin. It is non-comedogenic (meaning it won’t clog pores) and in formulated with ingredients that absorb oil. I was a little confused because the product went on pretty greasy. But! I let it set for a minute or two and it fully absorbed into my skin. Throughout the days when I tested the product, it kept my skin much less oily than my usual primer. Since its primary strength is mattifying, (as opposed to extending the wear of your makeup), I particularly enjoyed using it on days when I wore a lighter lineup of products. Two squirts of this stuff, concealer, powder, let’s go! So, despite the trick start, this definitely ranks among my new favorite products.
Lipstick Butters
Or, since they’re vegan, maybe we should say Lipstick Margarines!
Either way, this is the ultimate lip-balm-meets-color product. I hate when lipstick fades and leaves me with raw, peeling lips holding lines of color. I also hate when lip balms claim to have a “color” but it’s not visible to the naked eye.
These butters are flat out wonderful. They are moisturizing and the moisture lasts. The colors are beautiful and almost as fully pigmented as actual lipstick. The color doesn’t last as long as regular lipstick, but it certainly lasts long enough. You’ll be itching for another application of moisture in this dry winter weather anyway, so you’ll have a chance to revamp your color. Note that the colors are NOT as dark as they seem on the stick itself. They come out balanced and beautiful on your lips.
All-In-One BB Creams
BB (short for Beauty Balm) creams are supposed to be all-in-one treatments for your skin. They will moisturize, protect, and smooth.
This Mineral Fusion cream is “Illuminating.” It moisturizes, evens out skin, gives a dose of anti-aging goodness, and has a very light sunscreen. I loved the dewy, illuminating effect. I also liked that it wasn’t greasy, so it is good for acne-prone skin. The SPF is only 9, and most dermatologists agree anything under SPF 30 isn’t really worth it. But it can’t hurt. I prefered this product with my makeup over it since the cream itself is pretty light. If you rush in the morning to apply a ton of different creams and lotions, this might be for you.
This tight little compact gives you two color options for bronzing and/or contouring. The dust is smooth, silky, and highly pigmented. A little goes a crazy long way! This particular shade didn’t fit with my fair complexion. It would be perfect for someone darker and with more tan undertones.

Nice write-up. In your experience, are vegan beauty products cheaper or more expensive than their animal testing counterparts? This is always something I’ve wondered about.
