Andalou Naturals 1000 Roses Skincare Review.
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet,
but having face care products that smell like actual roses cannot be beat.
My poetic attempts aside, Andalou Naturals has a line of products formulated for sensitive skin called “1000 Roses.” There are 12 products in total, as well as a convenient “Get Started Kit” available for those who prefer to sample a a bit of each.
Andalou is an all-natural, vegetarian, cruelty free brand. A large number of their products, including those reviewed here, are also vegan. They are very open about which products contain what, and you can find the list of vegan products here .
In addition to being largely vegan, they’ve made a name for themselves by their commitment to pure ingredients (a minimum of 70% organic) as well as for their use of “Fruit Stem Cell Science.” This isn’t a science blog, but you can read up on it here: I (personally) have been using their products for years with great satisfaction. In fact, when the press sample came in the mail, my husband pointed and said “Oh! That’s that brand you like!” Truth.
I tried out the Eye Revive Contour Gel and the Color + Correct Cream SPF 30.
Eye Revive Contour Gel: This clever eye gel actually comes in a tube with a roller ball at the end. That’s really useful, because when people apply eye cream they often tug at the delicate under-eye area, which can cause damage and droopy skin over time. So, they definitely get brownie points for the intuitive design. The gel itself is light – not goopy or oily. It takes a few minutes to absorb, so be sure to allow time if you want to apply concealer over it. I could see the difference it made in the darkness under my eyes.
Color + Correct Cream SPF 30: This “CC” cream is a moisturizer, light foundation, and skin care treatment all in one. It comes in both Sheer Nude and Sheer Tan shades. I thought it would leave my oily skin very oily, but it was actually impressively mattifying. The sheer coverage was spot on, but the best part about this cream is that it contains SPF 30. I think we’re all a little lackadaisical about protecting our skin from the sun (I’m the first to admit…) so I love that it’s built-in to this product that does it all. Unlike a lot of sunscreens, this did not leave my face gross and oily afterward. I was clean and soft and beautiful all day long.
And it’s as if the people putting together the package together knew the way to my heart – yummy shower gel too! This one is the Mandarin Vanilla Vitalizing Shower Gel. It’s creamy and a little goes a long way. Now, I expected this guy to be a sweet, pick-me-up, energizing orange scent. To my surprise, it was actually a warm, calming, vanilla with an afterthought of orange. I actually liked that even better.
Thank you, Andalou for constantly putting out great amazing cruelty free, vegan products. Keep up the great work!
