What to Wear to a Blogger or Vlogger Conference?
I recently got to go to an amazing vlogger conference called VidSummit. The conference is meant for bloggers, video creators/YouTubers, brands, and others who create content and push it out to the masses via social media. No one was selling anything – it was all about learning and sharing ideas, which was really inspiring and helpful. My friend Amber got me and my fiancé, Gregg, hooked up with tickets for both days. I’m SO glad she did, because it was a really great event. It was held at The Westin Los Angeles, and we got a room so we could get up early and head down to the meeting rooms without battling traffic.
So – what do you wear to a conference? Well, you want to look put together (this is a business conference after all), but it’s very important to be comfortable. If your high heels are making you wince with every step, or your short skirt is making you feel awkward when sitting, how are you going to concentrate on learning and making connections? It’s usually cold in hotel meeting rooms, so you need to prepare for that too. Layers are always good. A lightweight sweater that you can stuff into your bag when you’re not wearing it is a good idea. And when it comes to jewelry, find something that you can wear with multiple outfits, especially if you’re traveling.
I packed light since I was only staying one night. I wore wrap dresses with black leggings on both days. The first day I wore my new NY & Co emerald green bell sleeve wrap dress with black Anne Klein sport wedges (these aren’t the exact ones I have but they’re very close – cute and super comfortable). The second day I wore a Tommy Bahama black wrap dress with leggings and the same comfy shoes. This dress isn’t that exciting, but it’s comfy and warm, and my necklace really jazzed it up.
I wore my Ben Bridge Jeweler Toscano Tassel necklace with both outfits. It’s a classy statement necklace that completely transformed both outfits from nice to “boss babe on a mission”! The Italian gold necklace has a simple gold bead, followed by another openwork filagree bead, followed by a tassel made from gold chains. The piece goes with almost anything, and it made me feel super confident as I met with fellow creators and industry heavyweights like Gary Vee, Shonduras, Garrett from the Bucket List Family, It’s Judy Time (Judy Travis) and Rachel from The Stay at Home Chef.
I love how well-made and solid Ben Bridge Jeweler is. The pieces are pretty, but tough (just as I like to think of myself – haha!). The pieces can last a lifetime, and the styles are elegant. This is not the cheap, trendy stuff you buy at the mall and wear once! Girrrrrl I am too old for that nonsense! All of the metals are ethically sourced, which I very much appreciate.
I came back from the conference feeling inspired (which I really needed)! It’s hard to break into YouTube – especially in the beauty industry. You have to have a thick skin (which I don’t usually!) and it’s a lot of work to film and edit videos in addition to running a blog and Instagram channel. But, I plan to make it a priority. For a few years, Roxette Arisa did the videos for the My Beauty Bunny channel, but now she’s famous and killing it (I’m so proud!!), so it’s time for me to jump back into it. Gotta just dive into the deep end, right? While you’re reading this, I would love if you’d hit that subscribe button for me! I’d love to hear your tips on dressing for a conference. I’m always looking for ideas. Got any specific shoes or outfits that you recommend? Let me know in the comments below!

I love your necklace Jen, it’s classy and beautiful. It would look great with a tunic or dressed down with a white tee-shirt and skinny jeans too! Glad the conference was a success!

You hit the outfit on the nailhead. Comfy and business casual. And who wouldn’t love that necklace?? I know I would.

Girl, we need real people on YouTube! I hope you jump into it. I thought it’s going to require me more time but since I vlog rather than do sit-down types, it’s easier to edit. I just swallowed my own self-deprecating embarrassment because let’s be honest, I’d rather watch a real person doing real things in life! You have those so I say yes, bring it on!

That necklace is so cute!
