I want to share this new app with you guys. BeauByte (pronounced “byew-bite”) is a new social community/e-commerce beauty app. It is the only beauty app that allows you to discover looks and purchase products all in the same app, as well as being a part of a social community. Kind of like Instagram meets Pinterest and Tinder but with shopping added to the mix!
What’s cool about BeauByte is that you can see looks from REAL people – not just the “Insta-Famous” girls! You shouldn’t only pay attention to the influencers who have millions of fans – they can be helpful, but before you make a purchase, you want to know what real people are saying. Everybody’s on a level playing field with this app. It’s all about positivity and community.
So how does it work? Basically, you log in and browse through the photos. Just like with Tinder (the dating app), you can swipe left if you don’t like something or swipe right if you like it. The app will start to learn your preferences and show your “beauty matches.” Don’t worry – no one will be alerted if you don’t like something – that’s just for you. From there, you can see what beauty products were used to achieve the looks you like. This helps you to see how products will look on people who actually look like YOU (same skin tone, same hair color, same eye color, etc). Sometimes a swatch just isn’t enough – you want to see the product in action!
You can choose to see the details and purchase the product (via the lipstick icon at the top), write your own review of a product – let people know if it’s worth it or not (via the star icon), see more pics of people using that product (via the photos icon), read more details about the product – for example if it’s vegan or cruelty free or not (via the icon that looks like text) or see related products (via the links icon).
The coolest thing is that you can earn “BeauBux” – basically credits to purchase more beauty products! You get BeauBux when you inspire someone to buy a product (if someone buys a product after seeing your look, you get a percentage of that in BeauBux). You can get discounts, free samples, free shipping and other perks by gaining points (more on that here). You get points by liking (or disliking) photos and uploading your own looks.
