I FEEL GREAT TODAY! Unfortunately that feeling has been pretty rare for me lately. I think it had a lot to do with the fresh smoothie I made this morning. I based it on the Glowing Green Smoothie from Kimberly Snyder’s book, “The Beauty Detox Foods.” I made it with my VitaMix blender (the best in the biz). It was quick and easy. Here’s what I blended up:
- 1 glass of purified water (roughly 10-12 oz)
- 2 large handfuls of organic romaine lettuce
- 2 large handfuls of organic spinach
- 2 bananas
- 2 apples
- 4 stalks of celery
- Juice from 1/2 lemon
- 1 teaspoon spirulina powder
- 1 tablespoon manuka honey
- 1 scoop Raw Fit protein powder
- 1 oz Lily of the Desert Aloe Vera Detox Formula
- 1 bottle youthH2O
You don’t have to add all the extras – just start with the fruits and veggies and see how great you feel! This blend will help acne, aging skin, hair, nails, and overall energy and health! One large pitcher should last about 2 1/2 – 3 days in the fridge, so you can get your fruits and vegetables in every morning! (FYI – none of these products were sent for review. I picked most of them up at Erewhon Natural Foods and Vitamin Shoppe in Los Angeles.)

Great post! I’ve been wanting to try the YouthH20. I wonder if the protein powder is gluten free. It sounds like a good option! I use unsweetened hemp protein powder right now. It can be hard to find a dairy/gluten free unsweetened protein powder!
I’m happy for you that you are getting your health on track! Hope the new Naturopath dr is a good help, and you continue to feel good! 🙂

Great post, Jen! I love smoothies, especially in the summer. I’ve never tried the Raw Fit, but I just picked up the Raw Meal in chocolate this weekend. I’ve never tried Garden of Life products before. I usually use Amazing Grass green superfood or amazing meal.

Hi Amber – it is gluten free! 🙂 thanks for your kind words!

I’ve been drinking green smoothies in the morning for a while now and it just makes me feel a lot better! I’m curious about the aloe vera – I’ll have to check that out. I generally just stick with spinach, carrots and rotate various fruits. I use the NutriBullet and I love it because it’s quick and easy. I do need to get more adventurous with my ingredients though!

Great post. I’m just starting out with juicing. Is a normal blender OK? Do I need to invest in a more sophisticated juicer?
