Becca Cosmetics Glow Gloss + Becca x Chrissy Lip Gloss Review and Swatches
Review by Claudia Materdomini (photos by Jen Mathews)
I think I was always a team lip gloss girl. It was one of those little things that I initially started with when I began to play with makeup as a teen. I had a few “nude” lipsticks, but always preferred shiny lips way back to when we all had those liquid glass roller ball glosses, remember those? Fast forward to now, and formulas and shades available have multiplied like crazy much to any beauty enthusiasts delight. The latest glosses that have hit the Sephora shelves are the Glow Gloss from Becca Cosmetics.
Becca Cosmetics has always made high quality products, some that I’ve really enjoyed and use almost daily, so giving their lip gloss a go was a welcome offer to me. The Glow Gloss line is available in ten shades that range from shimmering nudes to deeper, more opaque berry and chocolate tones. All inspired by Becca Cosmetics’ famous shimmering skin perfectors and blushes. The 3D light-reflecting pigments used in these glosses add more depth and color if you layer them over a lipstick, but also have the power to give full color on their own. The lip smoothing formula also includes a sting-free peptide lip plumper which I’m all about because my lips do not like stinging products AT ALL.
Opal – natural pink w/ soft gold pearl
Champagne Crème – soft gold w/ pink & gold pearl
Rose Gold – copper rose w/ soft gold pearl
Rose Quartz – cool pink w/ silver pearl
Chocolate Geode – rich bronze w/ copper & gold pearl
Camila – cool petal pink
Tigerlily – bright cabana coral
Snapdragon – rosy pink w/ soft gold pearl
Fox Glove – muted plum w/ cool silver pearl
Dahlia – rich berry
I appreciate the thought put into the design of the glosses because it’s the little things that help make or break a product in my book. The doe foot application collects the perfect amount of gloss so you don’t need to scrape it on the tube and have it get all messy. I also love that you can see the actual color THROUGH the tube accurately with no big labels in the way. I find that the formula feels thin enough to forget I’m wearing it, and that I only remember when I’m rubbing my lips together to feel that smooth moisture like you get from applying a balm. The stickiness factor is low for this one. I find that any gust of wind will attract the hair but nowhere near the stickiness of a lot of what’s out there. I really just notice that smooth silky feel you get from a balm!
I really love using two glosses at once, particularly Fox Glove on the outer blended to Camila towards the center. Opal is just gorgeous as a stand alone when I’m going to the no makeup makeup look. I’m a sucker for most of the shades and love that subtle shimmer that makes lips look a little bit more plump.
And just for the summer, Becca has launched another Becca x Chrissy collection – with three NEW shades of Glow Gloss! I just love Chrissy Teigen, and the shades from the new collection do not disappoint! There is Beach Bum (a warm sandy pink), Mailbu Soleil (a rose mauve) and Nectar (berry with shimmery pearl).
Are you a lip gloss girl? Will you be adding any of these your own collection?
