Bridging the Gap Between Cosmetic and Natural

in Misc on 04/01/13

By contributing writer,  MYA Cosmetic Surgery

Our skin is our biggest organ because it actually breathes and can absorb many things, both good and bad. For this reason we should nurture and treat it just like other organs – with respect. Like us, our skin has good days and bad days, often reflecting what is going on inside us!

Applying lotions and potions to keep moisturized, exfoliating, cleansing and upping your water intake, are all great ways to keep the skin in good shape. Take your make-up off at bedtime, wear an SPF every day, don’t smoke – it seems obvious. Excessive chemicals or perfumes in skin lotions can irritate the skin and are absorbed into the blood stream – as a rule of thumb, if you can’t pronounce it, don’t buy it!

This stuff we all know. But what about cosmetic treatments, or dare we say, surgical procedures? It would seem that cosmetic enhancements are incongruous with the beauty fiends among us who believe in natural, cruelty-free skincare. But who says you can’t have a nose job and yet still want an organic day cream? Someone with silicone implants may swear by almond oil on their décolletage – it’s all about a love of beauty and the best things to treat the skin we’re in.

What are your thoughts on this? Can you be “natural” and still go under the knife?

I love natural skin remedies, and I do believe that adding some chemical ingredients to my body through Cosmetic Surgery will harm my body.
I am not considering implementing silicon in my body at all.

Liked your tip about “if you can’t pronounce the ingredient then don’t buy it.” Great tip!

Being natural and going under the knife can coincide. A facelift, a chin lift or any other procedure that does not include adding silicone can be considered natural. It’s still your skin on your face and nothing has been added to the body. If anything, things have been removed from the body. So, my thoughts are that as long as nothing is being added, aka silicone, you can still be natural even after going under the knife. Thanks for the article!

I believe you can be “natural” and still go under the knife, as you have stated in your article “it’s all about a love of beauty and the best things to treat the skin we’re in”.

I disagree with this. All natural has a beauty of its own. I guess it depends on how you judge beauty.. hey to each his own.

I also agree that we have to care our skin because our skin is so sensitive and soft. So there is a need to take care of skin. We don’t have to use chemical products and any creams that are not good for our skin. But I like natural products very much because they gives us natural look and protects our skin.
