CBD for Life Cannabis for Skin

The future of skincare is being redefined by CBD For Life with its revolutionary approach to beauty and health: Cannabidiol (derived from hemp seed oil). CBD is a compound sourced from industrial hemp containing vitamins, omegas and essential fatty acids that are known to have beneficial effects on the skin, hair, and overall health! Its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties claim to help in reducing the appearance of fine lines and skin irritations such as acne, rosacea, eczema, and psoriasis. CBD For Life also packs its products with other active ingredients, which combine to help pain, inflammation and stress reduction, all while promoting anti-aging (my favorite!).

CBD for Life was created when founding partner and CEO, Beth, learned about the wonderful healing properties of CBD. She infused CBD with essential oils to create a rub that would help manage her chronic back pain caused from scoliosis of the spine, a condition she suffered with since her early teenage years. Beth felt immediate relief from the rub she was applying daily. As a wonderful side effect of using the rub, Beth noticed a significant improvement, clearing and softening of her skin. After months of extensive research she met with a chemist to create her luxurious formulations, and two years later CBD for Life was born!

Being a skeptical consumer, I had a lot of questions for the company. Here’s what they had to say:

Q. Is the CBD in these products at a higher concentration than products that contain hemp oil alone?

A. The CBD concentrations are much higher in our products than what you would find in hemp oil. Hemp oil is an extract typically taken from the seeds of the industrial hemp plant with very low levels of CBD. Many of our products include Hemp oil in addition to CBD oil (as well as other natural essential oils and botanicals) because hemp oils is a very effective skin hydrator. Our 99% pure CBD is extracted from the stems and stalks of the Industrial Hemp plant and contains very high levels CBD. Our third party CBD provider, CBD PUR US, achieves 99.99+ % purity by combining an extensive background in chemistry, research, breeding, planting, seed business, and industrial production. The final processing of the crystalline product takes place at their laboratory and the result of the extraction process is a pure 99.99%+ Cannabidiol (CBD) extract. The extracted Cannabidiol (CBD) is a raw crystallized powder without the heavy metals that are in Hemp Oil Paste.

Q. Is CBD an adaptogen? How does it determine if the skin needs oil or moisture? Can you explain?

A. CBD can be used to affect the output of oils in the skin and hair. Specifically, CBD inhibits the lipid production in skin cells, making it an effective preventative for acne. However, manipulating this system can also be used to increase output of sebum as well to prevent dry skin issues. Yes, cannabis is an adaptogen; it modulates physiological systems up and down in different directions. Endocannabinoids determine how much sebum is produced in the skin. Too much endocannabinoid anandamide leads to increased oil production and not enough causes dryness and conditions like eczema. Studies show that when CBD is applied to the skin cells for acne, anandamide decreased and oil production stopped. Essentially CBD calmed the sebaceous glands down. When applied to dry skin CBD helps increase sebum output to help lubricate the skin. CBD testing was done in 2010 by Hungarian scientist Dr. Tamas Biro and this article helps explain the interaction with the endocannabinoid system.

CBD offers the basics to revamp your skincare routine starting with the PURE CBD FACE & BODY CLEANSER to deep clean clogged pores. The PURE CBD FACE CREAM is a super hydrating boost that reverses skin dullness with the help of natural CBD extracts. CBD naturally has vitamins C & E, nutrients, minerals, proteins and fatty acids. Vitamins C & E protect skin against damage from the sun as antioxidants. CBD also keeps free radicals from damaging collagen and elastin, which give skin its youthful appearance. CBD interacts with the body’s own endocannabinoid system and our cannabinoid receptors located throughout the skin, treating skin conditions and alleviating dry skin.

To combat under-eye discoloration, bags and lines, the PURE CBD EYE SERUM plumps the skin with its fast-drying, non-greasy formula. The formula is made with aloe, hyaluronic acid, green tea, licorice, cucumber, grapeseed oil, avocado oil, coffee bean and many other ingredients that are PERFECT for the under-eye area. The ingredient list is quite impressive! And to finish off the face, the PURE CBD LIP BALM plumps your lips for a maximum kissable pout.

Finally, the PURE CBD HAND AND BODY MASSAGE LOTION and PURE CBD FOOT CREAM make up the perfect power couple to hydrate your whole body after a shower or bath! The lotion is also packed with hydrating ingredients like jojoba, safflower and apricot kernel oil. They all absorb readily into the skin so do not leave a greasy feeling of any kind. I noticed the lotion is fairly thin – I love it, but I think it would do better in a pump container rather than a tube. I asked the CBD for Life about that, and they confirmed what I had suspected, “CBD is fat soluble, so it is readily absorbed by the skin. CBD would absorb with a thicker base, however, it would take away the benefits of the CBD being absorbed quickly.” So in other words – a thinner lotion helps the active ingredient absorb more quickly.

CBD For Life also has a line of products specifically catered to health and healing! The PURE CBD FOR LIFE RUB (in Original and LEMONGRASS) and the PURE CBD EXTRACT PAIN RELIEF SPRAY are the ultimate solution for sore muscles after a long day at the gym. For an oral alternative to prescription painkillers and alternative medication, the PURE CBD ORAL SPRAY is the most effective and quickest way to help with pain management, inflammation, arthritis, stress and anxiety! *Cue the sigh of relief*

All CBD For Life products are natural, free of GMOs and artificial ingredients, and are cruelty free of course!

    Hey Jen!

Thanks for sharing this article – I am a huge advocate for cannabis products.

Topical application of cannabidiol oils and creams can have many benefits for skin, hair and nails, as well as local pain (with enough concentration).

It’s awesome to see the amount of hemp derived products on the market, especially now that laws have relaxed there is a huge opportunity to create new topical applications for cannabis.

    Great Read!

I have used a cannabis balm before but not sure there was any CBD in it. It was probably hemp oil.

Great resource, I will def check next time to make sure the product I buy has CBD in it from now on!
