Affordable Cruelty Free Skincare!
While I love spending my hard earned cash on makeup, I love investing in skincare more. After all, your makeup will only look better if the skin underneath is well taken care of. What makes it even better is when I find products that are effective AND affordable — basically allowing me to buy more makeup down the road! Woot! Maybe some have you have seen that ELF Cosmetics has a line of skincare out? It wasn’t until recently I was able to try a couple of their products and see if they lived up to the hype.
ELF Cosmetics is known as the uber affordable brand of makeup and tools that allow us to explore all types of looks without sacrificing our entire paycheck in the process. Holla!!! I’ve been using ELF products on and off over the past 10 years or so and was excited to see the frosty blue and gleaming silver line of skincare hitting the shelves of Target in the last couple of years. Their look is quite luxe but has a price tag that ranges from $3-14 each.
I love using scrubs, so when I saw that I was sent the E.L.F Exfoliating Scrub I was quite excited to see how it would live up to my expectations. I use scrubs regularly to keep pores clear and my skin feeling smooth. This non-scented scrub is packed with skin loving vitamin E and infused with purified water to give skin a healthy, luminous look. I’d say the granules in this scrub are on the gentle side with a fine sandy feel. I made sure to massage my face and neck in the shower for a good minute to get the best results possible. For only $6 you can have a basic scrub that offers gentle exfoliation. You can even keep one in the shower and one in a travel bag at that price!
After my shower, I followed up with E.LF Hydrating Bubble Mask. And aside from a peel off mask, I LOVE bubble masks because they’re fun, they look hilarious on, and feel all tingly when it goes through the developing stage. Just a couple of pumps of this gel on a moistened complexion produces a thick white bubbly foam mask that hydrates the skin in just under 10 minutes. I leave the mask on until all the bubbles die down before rinsing and my skin feels tight and smooth in a good way. This mask is on the higher end of their price range, but at $14, still making it an affordable option for most.
After trying these two items out, I’d be happy to see how some of the other products work, like the micellar water or hydrating serum. You can find E.L.F Cosmetics skincare products online or at your local Target.
