Lush Mask of Magnaminty

Oh, the joy of coming home after a long day, running a bath and unscrewing the lid of a black Lush pot; especially if that pot contains cruelty free face mask, Mask of Magnaminty.

Over the years Mask of Magnaminty has become a staple in my skincare regime and I have repurchased it a countless number of times. Not only does it contribute to soft and smooth skin, using it feels like a luxurious spa treatment.

I am a person that loves face masks. To me a face mask is essential for any relaxing bath, but I am fully aware (as is my bank account) that this can be an expensive habit. One of the many great things about Mask of Magnaminty is that you get a lot of use from one pot. Also it keeps forever (this is probably an exaggeration, but you know what I mean). Unlike the fresh face masks Lush produce, which need to be refrigerated, Mask of Magnaminty can be kept in your bathroom and doesn’t need to be used up so quickly. This is because it doesn’t contain the perishable products that are found in the fresh masks.

The first thing you will notice when you open the pot is the smell. It’s minty. It’s enticing. It’s Lush. The best way to describe the aroma is to say that it is similar to that of an After Eight mint. I definitely smell chocolate in there along with the peppermint, although it is not one of the listed ingredients.

As soon as you apply the green mask to your face it feels fresh and cold, and gives the skin a tingling sensation. According to Lush this is due to the China clay and peppermint “reaching deep down to pull the debris from your pores.” Other ingredients include aduki beans, to exfoliate flaky or dry skin, and vanilla, to calm redness. The product is slight messy to apply but does slide onto the skin easily and it’s worth it to make your skin feel clean and refreshed. Once I’ve had the mask on for a while and get round to taking it off, I find it very easy to remove. I use it in the bath, so when I’m done I simply dunk my head underwater and wipe it away with my hands. If you’re not a fan of dunking, a wet flannel will do!

With some products I find that I need to apply a moisturizer instantly after removal in order to avoid that tight, dry feeling on the face. This is not the case after using Mask of Magnaminty. It’s friendly and does not dry out the skin; I do not need to rush to my moisturizer for protection.

I used to have quite (very) acne prone skin but using Mask of Magnaminty once a week as part of a regular skincare regime has helped me to keep the spots at bay. When I do get breakouts, as I still do from time to time, the mask is great for making the imperfections less noticeable and promoting a quick healing process. I have also noticed that the product has helped to reduce the size of my pores. My skin is now clearer and less oily than it was before.

I have been nothing but impressed by this product since the first time I used it. It leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed, as well as reducing the appearance of acne and pores. It is great for both women and men of all skin types. Mask of Magnaminty is a treat to use and one that I will continue to indulge in for a long time coming.

I love LUSH!! I’ve tried their masks, but not this one. Thank you for the review, Tom–I’ll have to pick it up next time I’m at the store.

I always order from Lush online which doesn’t have the fresh masks. Love that this one does not need to be refrigerated.

This sounds like a good one to try. Although I use other Lush products, I haven’t used Lush mask in years. I think it is time to re-visit their masks. Very helpful review!
