Cruelty Free Matte Lipstick
It seems in the last month I’ve really had a good opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and experiment with brighter, “fun” colors in makeup than what I usually reach for. POP Beauty is the perfect brand to help me dip my toes into that colorful pool of vivid makeup. Just a few weeks ago I made a full makeup look using only POP Beauty products, but today we’re going to zero in on a couple of their Matte Velvet Lipstix and see how they work for me.
POP Beauty Velvet Matte Lipstix comes in twelve colors that are to impart pigment rich color with just one swipe. They’re cruelty-free, paraben free, and use vitamin E to keep lips soft and protected. I was sent three colors to model for you guys: Pink Porcelain, Finest Fuchsia, and Cozy Crimson.
First up; Pink Porcelain, which I believe to be one of the lightest shades of the entire Velvet Matte Lipstix family. I would call this the soft, cotton candy color of the bunch. It did take some “warming up” to apply, but by the time I got to the bottom lip it glide on pretty easily. Upon closer inspection of my swatch photo, I could have probably given my top lip another swipe, but in person it looked okay. I do like this shade, but I’d probably prefer just a hint more color like the Parisian Pink or Sienna Spice.
Next up, Finest Fuchsia. I LOVED this color. It glide on just a bit quicker than Pink Porcelain and it’s a great smile brightening color. It’s a bit bright for me to hit up Target or the Market, but holy cow, maybe I just need to do it anyways. I really loved it.
Last, was Cozy Crimson which the website swatch does not do it justice. This is one SERIOUS red! On the website it appears to be a deep rose, but ladies, take a look at this. It is one of those very smile brightening colors that even though it’s bold, doesn’t look crazy on! I rarely wear red lipstick, but I can imagine wearing this with a LBD.
Overall, the lipsticks wore comfortably until they gradually wore off from eating. My lips never dried out and didn’t feel like they had anything on. I only had a little bit of drag with the lightest color but the other two glide on super easy. I’d be super interested to see how Novel Nude or Sienna Spice would look on me since I tend to go with the natural look most days, and just for fun, Classy Coral.
