I think the last time I bought a tube of lipstick was in high school. With my thin lips, lipsticks have just never looked right. That’s why I’m a big fan of gloss. The sheer color and shine usually makes my lips appear fuller, and definitely more kissable.
One of my favorite glosses for the past few years has been Colorescience’s Crystalescience Lip Serum. Whew, that’s a mouthful. But as its name suggests, “gloss” doesn’t really accurately describe everything this product does.
Formulated with skin-improving ingredients, like peptides and vitamin E, this lip gloss is actually a plumper and a treatment too. It moisturizes and reduces wrinkles around the lips. Plus, its coloring is from natural minerals instead of dyes.
I know. It sounds too good to be true. But I really encourage everyone to try it. It feels wonderful on your lips, never sticky. I apply a thin layer when my lips are dry and just need some moisture. Then, when I’m going out or want more color, I apply a couple of coats for a more glossy effect.
I can definitely tell my lips are smoother when I wear it. Not superficially smooth, but actually smoother. And, it has a slight plumping action that gives me the fullness I really need (without stinging). Oh, and did I mention it smells good? I’m not talking fruity lip smackers (although those smells are fun too). I mean pure aromatherapy oils, including tea tree, peppermint, bergamot, sweet orange, and lavender. I actually feel relaxed when I breathe it in. And it gives my breath a nice refreshment.
I’ve racked my brain to think of any drawback about this product, and the only thing I can think of is that it could probably have more sun protection. It does have titanium dioxide, but it doesn’t seem to be enough to protect your lips on a super-sunny day (unless you’re applying it constantly). So, if you are out in the sun, I recommend applying a lip balm with SPF (or my new favorite lip sunscreen that I’ll be reviewing in the next few days).
