Question of the Week: Have you ever bought a beauty product solely for the packaging?

I have definitely been swayed by packaging – no doubt about that! I don’t know if I’ve ever bought anything that was completely unusable or anything like that, but I’ve definitely bought things I didn’t need because the packaging was so good! The Tarte Make Believe in Yourself palette is a good example of gorgeous packaging. The shades are very shimmery, and there’s a nice range of everyday warm tones, and a few fun “unicorn” colors.

The pigmentation is not quite what I had hoped. They are shimmery but not very pigmented. To get the most out of these colors, I recommend using your finger or a sponge applicator – for maximum impact. Take a look at my swatches below (in afternoon indirect sunlight – swatched with my fingertips) and see what you think. I will definitely be enjoying this palette for casual looks, but I think if you’re a makeup expert or used to really intense colors, you may be disappointed. If you’re like me, and want something that is just a notch above “everyday” looks, give this one a shot. Myth is a really nice neutral matte shade that I will be using a lot. And Marvel and Trance make really nice highlights to dot on top of the inner eye area.
