New Vice Lipstick Launch from Urban Decay!
Urban Decay recently put all of its Revolution lipsticks (including sheer and matte) on a huge sale (from $22 to only $11 each!). As of this writing, you can still buy them at UrbanDecay.com, ULTA and Sephora (most are sold out at Sephora). Everyone was wondering – why such a huge sale? Well now we know! Urban Decay is discontinuing the Revolution lippies, and has launched a whopping 100 new lipsticks! They are called Vice Lipsticks and they are gorgeous! Ruby Rose is the face of the launch, and UD just held a properly edgy/sexy launch party in NYC.
For those who don’t know, French beauty company, L’Oreal (not cruelty free), purchased Urban Decay in 2012. Part of the deal when signing was that Urban Decay would remain cruelty free and would not be sold in China. Urban Decay remains committed to abolishing animal testing and they are proudly Leaping Bunny certified. Many products are also vegan, but I don’t have confirmation yet on which Vice lipsticks and lip liners are vegan.
I was lucky enough to get my hands on 10 of Urban Decay founder, Wende Zomnir’s favorite shades of Vice lipstick and lip liners! Wow – these are some bold colors! Of the 100 lipsticks and 50 Lip Pencils, some of the shades are brand new, some are cult favorites and some are repackaged versions of the Revolution shades and Gwen Stefani shades.
When they launch on June 5th, they will be sold at a lower price point ($17 SRP). The new packaging is beautiful – gunmetal and gold bullets with debossed lettering and shade-matched labels (including shade name and finish) on the bottom. There are 6 different lipstick finishes: Mega Matte (MM), Comfort Matte (CM), Cream (C), Metallized (M), Sheer (S) and Sheer Shimmer (SS).
The new lipsticks are very highly pigmented and all have a nice creamy texture with no drag (even the mattes!). They are made with Vitamin E, Vitamin C and antioxidants to nourish and moisturize your lips. I found the mattes to be ever so slightly drying – but not uncomfortable (not like those liquid mattes – ai yi yi!). But in general, I prefer cream finishes.
I got to try Wende’s top 10 picks from the launch:
- Naked (C) – a pink nude cream – one of my favorites!
- Menace (CM) – cool toned fuchsia comfort matte
- Big Bang (M) – sheer, cool toned pink with glitter – metallic
- Pandemonium (MM) – violet mega matte
- Disturbed (CM) – vampy dark red comfort matte
- Firebird (C) – dark fuchsia cream
- 714 (MM) – true red mega matte
- Rock Steady (C) – dark red cream
- Conspiracy (M) – deep brown/red metallic
- Backtalk (CM) – a deep mauve comfort matte – my other favorite!
The 9 Urban Decay Vice Lip Pencils pictured above:
- Naked (nude)
- Anarchy (fuchsia)
- Gash (brick red)
- Conspiracy (brown)
- Pandemonium (violet)
- 714 (red)
- Hex (vampy dark red)
- Jilted (pink)
- Rush (mauve)
There are a total of 50 Vice Lip Pencils – one that will work with every lipstick shade for perfect application and long wear. Or, you can use them on their own.
On June 5th, you will be able to get all the lipsticks and lip liners at UrbanDecay.com, Sephora, Ulta Beauty, Macy’s and beauty.com.

I know this post is from quite a while ago, but I recently looked through the ingredients of every vice lipstick and came up with a list of vegan ones! To make things easier, so you don’t have to read through an entire list, I discovered that every single mega matte and comfort matte contains beeswax. All of the other finishes (cream, sheer, sheer shimmer & metallized) are vegan. Some of the shades say they MAY contain carmine, but they are not on the actual list of ingredients. (These shades being gash, seismic, venom, lovelight, sancho & ex-girlfriend) Hope this helps!
