Jane Iredale Golden Shimmer Face and Body Lotion and LipDrink Lip Balm
The last time I wrote about Jane Iredale (here) was the first time I had encountered this high-end, cruelty free brand that offers a number of vegan options. And now I’m lucky enough to be trying out more of their products on your behalf!
This time I tried out two products that you’re going to want for your summer makeup kit:
Golden Shimmer Lotion: This lotion was a limited edition and is now back for a short time. It provides a light golden hue with a sizable dose of shimmer. In fact, this product contains diamond dust – for the next time you want to look like a million bucks. (Ba dum ching!) The lotion looks very glittery when you squeeze it from the tube, but after you blend it and leave it for a few minutes it is much more subtle and quite pretty. You can follow the included instructions about how and where to apply – around eyes, on the side of your leg, and on your cleavage. I’m very fair skinned, and it was even suitable for me, though looked best on my slightly darker parts. I think just about any skin tone would look fabulous in this product.
LipDrink Lip Balm: This lip balm does a three-fold job:
-One, it’s super moisturizing, and without the common pitfall of beeswax (found in most non-vegan lip balms, including cruelty free ones.)
-Two, it contains a sunscreen to protect the lips’ delicate skin. I’ve used lip sunscreen before and really disliked the taste, but they’ve managed to create one here with NO gross sunscreen flavor! Bravo, Jane Iredale.
-Three, it can give a hint of color. It’s available in three shades: Sheer (totally clear), Crush (pinkish), Buff (nude mauve.) I tried the Buff and it was really lovely- nothing too strong and suitable for a variety of skin tones. The balm had a sweet lemony scent.
We should really be protecting our smoochers from the sun – and I don’t think I could have designed a better product myself.
I also have to say that Jane Iredale does a great job at sleek, impressive packaging. This balm comes in a shiny, sturdy case with their name elegantly scripted on the outside. It’s like a little silver bullet – making it hard to lose in your purse.
One last thing to love about Jane Iredale is that they completely forthcoming in which products are vegan and which products are not. (A lot of companies try to dance around this issue and it can be difficult to get reliable information from them regarding which products are vegan.) The Jane Iredale list of non-vegan products can be found on their website here. In addition, each product page lists if the product is vegan or not (and also mentions its gluten-free status.) Please note that some of their brushes are not vegan; that information can be found here or on the brush’s product page.
Happy summer!
