Wanderlust Wednesday – Things to Do in Los Angeles – Catstravaganza
Written by Crazy Cat Lover, Sharon Jennings
Wondering what to do this weekend? This week’s Wanderlust Wednesday is especially for the cat lovers out there. So stop what you’re doing right meow and get ready to plan a paw-some night out — for a good cause.
So my cat, King Tut, and I are super excited for the CATstravaganza Featuring Hamilton’s Cats! What is that you ask? Only the most paw-some ‘Hamilton’ meets ‘Cats’ musical (and party!) you’ve ever heard of. Hamilton’s Cats is about a small-town cat rescue that decides to put on the musical Cats as a fundraiser. No one is interested but then Andrew Lloyd Webber decides to attend so now everyone wants to be involved! I think the spoof on Hamilton is super clever and hilarious. I mean, who doesn’t want to see a musical with a cat-themed spin?
The reason I mention this meowsical is because you know My Beauty Bunny loves cats — and this event is put on by Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats, a nonprofit organization in L.A. that rescues, neuters, socializes and finds homes for feral kittens. They also provide trap-neuter-release services to help street cats in the city. There are so many cats and kittens out there that need help and it’s so important that organizations like Kitty Bungalow keep doing what they do. KB is the only 100% feral cat socialization facility in all of Southern California.
The event is quite the party, too. Hamilton’s Cats is going to feature a seriously star-studded lineup. The event is taking place in Hollywood on April 21 at 7 pm and will feature celebs like Fred Willard (Modern Family), Emily Deschanel (Bones) Mindy Sterling (Con Man), Kirsten Vangsness (Criminal Minds), Brendan Robinson (Pretty Little Liars) and Lori Alan (Sponge Bob Square Pants) — the list goes on. The night also features games, prizes, DJ, open bar, tapas, treats and a live band!
Honestly, I would totally jump at the idea of wearing a fantastic cat-themed outfit for their red carpet. Just check out these photos from last year: that Cat in the Hat outfit, that leopard print beanie! If you’re anything like me, you’ve totally got some cat-eared headbands in your closet.
And don’t forget about the makeup possibilities. One of the sponsors of the event is Lime Crime, a cruelty free makeup brand. I’m so happy to see the brand supporting such a great cause.
So excuse me while I get ready for the CATstravaganza this weekend. I’ll probably take some selfies with my cat before I leave. The best part: 100% of sales go to help rescue more homeless animals! It’s one night only so don’t miss your chance to see the meowsical and also help out kittens in need. Tickets go from $80 to $175 and Kitty Bungalow JUST released $40 tickets! You can get your tickets here.
